Veronica Mars 2.12 Rashard and Wallace Go to White Castle

Given his lengthy absent earlier this season, it’s only natural that an episode heavily centred on Mr Fennell would be so important this point. He’s got all the makings of a totally passable character, yet he’s one of the most beloved, and I’m one of the fans who believe he deserved far more screen-time than he ended up getting, especially later on.

The seeds of the episode were sewn last week. Minor characters are, again, put into great use and made a part of a bigger plan, like Jackie who ends up becoming a major tool in the success of Veronica’s plan. I love seeing Wallace in on most of the action, but his presence continues to diminish after this. It’s a shame, really, since I loved all of his and Veronica’s scenes; their friendship is one that seems so easy and effortless.

After the first half of the season which superseded the bus crash with Felix’s murder and the PCH hulabuloo, the second half becomes bus crash city, this episode being the instigator in rejuvenating the plot which had almost come to a standstill in recent weeks, mostly due to other arcs taking over. It was obvious that the bus crash wasn’t meant for Veronica, and not just because she discovered it so early on. There’s way too many players involved in this game for it to just be part of some petty revenge against her.

Like season one, this season’s bigger stories pick up steam the further on in the year we get, and the bus crash is one which starts to develop into an almost as well depicted mystery as Lilly’s murder was as time goes on.

8/10
